It tries your item both ways round, upright and rotated 90°, and keeps whichever fits more copies inside the printable area of the sheet. The printable area is the sheet minus your margin on every side and the gripper on the leading edge, the strip the press holds.
Each copy takes up its finished size plus bleed on every side. With "Leave room for crop marks" ticked, it also keeps a little space outside the outermost copies for trim marks. Copies share cuts between them (one guillotine cut between neighbours), which is how most printers impose cards and flyers.
Typical results
| Item (3 mm bleed) | SRA3 | A3 | 13 × 19 in |
|---|
Figures use a 5 mm margin, no gripper and rotation allowed. Change any value above to match your press.
Why this matters
One extra copy per sheet saves paper, press time and cutting on every job. On a 1,000-card run, going from 18-up to 21-up saves 8 sheets and 8 press passes, before counting waste.
When the count is right, ImpoGrid builds the actual press PDF from the customer's file: it keeps the original artwork, colours and fonts, adds crop and registration marks, and handles the back side, numbered tickets, booklets and book signatures. Start your free month.
